In conjunction with “Out West III,” The TRiiBE invites readers to Rooted Out West, a two-day community gathering taking place on Chicago’s West Side on Aug. 29-30, 2026.
As the first public event at The TRiiBE’s East Garfield Park studio, the gathering brings together neighbors, storytellers, archivists, community leaders, institutions, and public officials to continue Out West III’s exploration of memory, land, and belonging.
Through hands-on workshops and community conversations, attendees will unpack the Out West series, explore digital archiving with the Westside Historical Collective, estate planning with the Westside Justice Center, environmental justice during a fireside chat with Mayor Brandon Johnson, and more.
The TRiiBE’s community outreach initiatives for Chicago’s West Side seek to strengthen community connections and preserve Black history and communities for future generations.
