There’s no debate here — Summertime Chi has the best vibes. As the seasons start to change, excitement begins to build for yet another memorable summer in the world’s best city.
Chicago has long earned its reputation as a festival capital. Whether it’s music, food, culture or community, there’s something for you, if you know where to look. From the Chicago Blues Festival and the Chosen Few Picnic & Festival to Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash and both Black yacht weekends, the city offers a mix of tradition and new energy that keeps things fresh year after year.
At their best, festivals do more than entertain, they bring people together. They create space for connection, for celebration, and for shared experiences across different communities. They’re a reminder of how vibrant and unified the city can feel under the humid sun. They also offer a reason to discover a different side of town.
We’ve put together this list of some of Summertime Chi’s standout events and festivals. Mind you, this is not a comprehensive list of every single event happening in the city — so, please, don’t yell at us.
