The Chicago Park District has released its lineup of fall programs, giving Chicagoans a chance to sign up for everything from youth sports to arts and nature activities that run from September through December.
This fall’s programs include Animal Explorers, cross country, boys and girls flag football, softball, basketball, ceramics and a variety of programs for children, teens, adults and seniors. Residents can view available fall programs and register through the Chicago Park District website. Online and in-person registration began this week.
Park District officials are encouraging residents to make the most of the rest of 2026. The Park District said it reached more than 66,000 enrollments across summer programs this year, and had 19,000 participants in its six-week Summer Day Camp.
“We aren’t done with summer yet, and parks are bustling with outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy before returning to school,” said Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, Chicago Park District general superintendent and CEO. Students return to Chicago Public Schools on Aug. 24.
“This autumn, we will continue to welcome families to state-of-the-art playing fields, thought provoking art studios, and community-building wellness opportunities as part of our robust year-round programming.”
Look, you might be surprised what the Park District offers for free. And with yearly summer discussions about the whereabouts of Chicago’s Black teens, this is an opportunity to enroll the youth in some cool and productive programs.
Some of the free options for late summer and fall include a weekly citywide ‘Go Run Chicago series of 5K and one-mile races, animal interactions and scavenger hunts through Toddlers, Tunes and Turtles, as well as Movies in the Parks.
There will also be an impressive Citywide Boxing Showcase taking place at the Daley Plaza, located at 50 W.
