There’s a new drag show in town, and it’s taking the South Side of Chicago by storm.

LIPS Chicago is a nightly stage show coupled with drag queens, a sit-down dining experience and full bar. Located on South Michigan Avenue and 22nd Street in the South Loop, the Vegas-style party features performances by longtime Chicago entertainers such as Mz. Ruff N’ Stuff, a 20-year veteran in the drag-queen game.

Mz. Ruff N’ Stuff got her start in the late 1990s as a promoter for drag shows in Chicago. As she grew in popularity, she began performing alongside stars such as award-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson and more.

Now, Mz. Ruff N’ Stuff hosts the “Dragalicious Gospel Brunch” on Sundays at LIPS Chicago, the franchise’s fifth location in the U.S. She also spends the rest of the week performing at various clubs in Chicago. Though, she says, LIPS Chicago is one of the only places where people can eat, drink and be entertained all at once.

“They come and they have an amazing time,” Mz. Ruff N’ Stuff says. “And they have an experience and they love it and they stay and then they tell their friends and they come back. That’s beautiful. That’s what we need in Chicago.”
