On Monday, the Obama Foundation announced that museum tickets at the Barack Obama Presidential Center will go on sale to founding members on April 21, and to the general public on May 6.

Illinois residents will be able to visit the museum for free on Tuesdays with timed-entry tickets starting on June 23. The first round of ticket sales will include dates for June 19 through Nov. 30. Tickets for future dates will be announced in advance.

The Obama Presidential Center (OPC), which is located in Jackson Park, will officially open its doors on June 19. The 19.3-acre OPC campus will be a hub for the Obama Foundation’s work, which includes a presidential museum, a Chicago Public Library branch, a children’s play area with an extensive playground, an open green space for community and social gatherings and more.

“President and Mrs. Obama have always believed that democracy is strongest when people come together in shared spaces,” Obama Foundation CEO Valerie Jarrett said in a written statement. “The Museum allows visitors to explore the history and impact of the Obama presidency, while the broader campus in Jackson Park creates a place where the community can gather, learn, and imagine what’s possible next.”

The museum features exhibits across four floors that explore democracy and the work of the Obama Presidency.

Highlights from the ticketed museum experience include:

  • A full-scale replica of President Obama’s Oval Office
  • An exhibit chronicling Mrs. Obama’s iconic fashion throughout the administration
  • Exhibits describing the achievements of the Obama administration across two terms
  • Special short films

General admission tickets provide access to all four levels of the museum, including the Oval Office replica.

Tickets for general admission start at $30 for adults (ages 12 and up), $23 for children (ages 3-11), and entry is free for children 2 and under.

For Illinois residents with proof of residency, pricing is discounted to $26 for Adults (ages 12 and up) and $15 for children (ages 3-11), except on Tuesdays.
