Sometimes living in the Chi can mean gloomy days and a rainy forecast. Chicago weather can definitely affect your mood and act as a deterrent from going out, even if you have plans. We’ve all been there before. Fortunately, The Scene is here to help us locate our TRIIBE, and maybe give a little sunshine on a cloudy day. As the spring blossoms before us, we must also endure our annual April rainy season. We won’t let a little rain slow us down. Here’s a few events you can check out this weekend, but remember, dress appropriately.

1. Southside Critical Mass Bicycle Ride

For bike riding enthusiasts out there, the Southside Critical Mass meets every first Friday from 5:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and meets at Nichols Park. Please be aware of all dangers while riding, as you are responsible for your own safety. The ride will start at Nichols Park (South end, 55th & Kimbark) to 1300 E. 55th St. Anyone can ride and the event is free.

2. First Fridays at the Artisan Collective

First Fridays is an open studio event, where you can meet and support guest vendors and artisans in residence, while enjoying live music, refreshments, good vibes and more! Paintings, jewelry, cosmetics, and home decor will be available to purchase. The event is Friday, April 1st, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Do you want to be a vendor? Come out to Subterranean, 2011 W North Ave, and connect with other business owners. No phones! This is designed so that you live in the moment, and connect with the ones around you. Pretty cool concept. Event is on Saturday, April 2, 9:30 p.m, to 2:30 a.m. Tickets are only $5.

7. Soul Music Celebration

Come out to Chicago’s City Winery (1200 W Randolph St) on Sunday April 3, for a celebration dedicated to the greats who paved the way.
