Chicago just recently lifted its COVID-19 mask and vaccination mandates, so I know a lot of y’all are looking to get back into action this weekend.

Here’s a look at some cool and fun events happening in the coming days. Check ‘em out!

1. The Alice Cocktail Experience

Create your own liquid concoctions under the watchful eye of The Mad Hatter, watch how the night gets more and more interesting. At this happy hour, which takes its theme from the popular Alice in Wonderland novel-turned-film, you can play croquet with flamingos, paint the roses red and devour “Eat Me” cake. You’ll solve riddles and challenges just like Alice, and unlock all the ingredients to create your own enchanted teapot cocktails. It’s being held at The Galway Arms on 2442 N. Clark St. in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Get your tickets while you still can. Tickets start at $47 and include 2x bespoke cocktails and “Eat Me” cake and cookies.

2. Whadda Jerk’s R&B Saturdays

Come and vibe out on R&B Saturdays at Whadda Jerk, as they throw some of the hottest and sexiest R&B jams in rotation. Located at 2015 W. Division St. in the Ukrainian Village area, Whadda Jerk is also equipped with an outdoor patio for the fresh air vibes. Make sure to try the jerk egg rolls or chimichanga while you’re there. Free entry.

3. Tribute to Sidney Poitier

This year, we lost a true legend when decorated actor and diplomat Mr. Sidney Poiter passed away at the age of 94. From March 6-27, nonprofit cinema house FACETS is presenting a retrospective of four Poitier films that spotlight his extraordinary career and achievements. This week, there will be a showing of No Way Out (1950) on Sunday, March 6 at 1:00 p.m. FACETS is located at 1517 W. Fullerton Ave. near Lincoln Park. Each week, FACETS will show a different film. Tickets are $12 for general admission. Don’t miss it.

4. The Brewsology Beer Festival

The Chicago Beer Festival presents, The Brewsology Beer Festival. It’s taking place at The Museum of Science and Industry on 5700 S. DuSable Lake Shore Dr. for a one of a kind experience. This is basically the drunk version of your annual middle school field trips to the museum. This event will feature over 60 breweries sampling their seasonal beers, and includes access to the many parts of the museum. Mark your calendars for this one on March 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Tickets are still available and start at $50.

5. New Edition Presents The Culture Tour

Get ready for some sangin! On March 5 at the United Center, R&B group sensation New Edition will bless the stage as they bring “The Culture Tour” to Chicago. And they’re not coming to the Chi alone either. They’re bringing their R&B peers Jodeci and the R&B OG Charlie Wilson with them to make this a well rounded old-school shout fest. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Get tickets while they last. Tickets are still available and start at $69.
