“When you eat it, it’s the best thing I’ve ever tasted, like the combination is crazy. It’s all about the sauce.”
That’s Chicago comedian Larry Legend lusting over Harold’s Chicken — the mild sauce, the texture of the fried chicken, whew! The longtime South Side native, Youtube personality and food critic sat down with “We Real Chicago” host Rome J. to discuss how he became a Harold’s Chicken connoisseur.
Legend recalled, “the one I grew up on was 103rd & Halsted, so that was like home to me. To the point where they knew my name or they know my order.”
Afterwards, Rome J. brought on food and travel writer Amber Gibson. The trio talked about their favorite Chicago eats: everything from the slices at Pizano’s Pizza & Pasta to grabbing a bag of Vitner’s hot Crunchy Kurls at the corner store.
In talking about what makes the Chicago food scene so great, Gibson told Rome J., “I think we as a city, for many years, have really excelled in fast casual dining.”
