“We Real Chicago” is TRiiBE TV’s weekly arts and entertainment show hosted by TRiiBE cultural correspondent Rome J.

On Aug. 20, South Side native Nate Marshall dropped by “We Real Chicago” to chop it up with Rome J. about his new poetry book, FINNA. An award-winning author and assistant professor of english at Colorado College, Marshall talked about the origins of the book, the word “FINNA” and how Chicago continues to influence his work. Marshall also performed “Landless Acknowledgement,” a selection from FINNA.

Later on in the episode: DJ Rae Chardonnay, rapper Tony Cartel and singer-songwriter Sam Trump stop by to chat about the impact of COVID-19 on creatives in Chicago during The Chi-Light panel segment.
