The BLACK Series┬áis based on the colloquialisms of Chicago’s working-class Black community. Through this project, I hope to educate people – inside and outside of Black Chicago – about our linguistic history.

Each word is paired with its literal definition and its slang representation. By using photography to capture moments of humor in the Black experience, I invite my audience to connect through the language of different subcultures.
